THE PURGE explores the duality between pain and passion. How so much of our expression comes with the pain we go through and the purging in the act of creative expression that brings release. This piece reminds me of the idea is about being at war with yourself as an artist. The purging can resemble blood or vomit at the inner trauma and violence that comes from experiencing life being afflicted by the human condition that is so deeply tied to the beauty of the creations that we put out into the world and paradoxically helps us all heal as a society.
