This artwork explores the metaphorical and literal masks that people wear. While the masks are vibrant and colorful on the outside, they conceal a complex spectrum of emotions within. In India, masks have deep cultural significance, often used in traditional dance and theatrical performances to represent various characters, emotions, and mythological figures. Through this visual narrative, the piece invites viewers to reflect on identity, performance, and the emotional layers we hide beneath outward appearances.
Medium: Mixed Media. I made this artwork in the process of making handmade paper. It has inclusions of layered paper pulp, ropes, and thread.
