Intersection

The artist captured the moment in "Intersection" during a family trip to New Delhi. At the center of the painting is a young boy who meets the viewer’s gaze directly—an encounter that becomes a mirror, reflecting each viewer’s own perceptions and biases about brown bodies and South Asian landscapes. For the artist, this moment was charged with a sense of confrontation. It laid bare the voyeuristic lens through which she was seeing her father’s homeland and revealed the quiet alienation she feels from her own cultural roots. In this work, she grapples with identity, distance, and the uneasy space between belonging and otherness.
