Here is my first woman. I like to imagine the world and my origins before everything was touched by destruction. I imagine it is the same fire I’m looking at now, the same palm trees above me, and the same sea I swim in. I’m reaching for that feeling of continuity—that maybe time isn’t so linear, and memory, myth, and the present can all live in the same moment.
